Together we are even stronger
The Hilti Foundation was set up in 1996 by the Martin Hilti Family Trust, sole shareholder of the Hilti Group whose operations span the world.
Right from the beginning its involvement was highly diversified, but focused on the Rhine Valley Region, i.e. Liechtenstein, seat of Hilti corporate headquarters, and the neighbouring countries Austria and Switzerland. An exception at that time was its commitment to the underwater excavation work of Franck Goddio in Egypt, which was one of the first projects of the new Foundation.
The activities of the Foundation in Egypt called its attention to the deplorable social conditions in the country. The inevitable corollary was a pledge to strive for a sustained improvement in the situation of disadvantaged people in this region. As a partner already familiar with the country, the non-profit-making organization Ashoka came to the assistance of the Hilti Foundation, whose work in Egypt has been funded up until the present day.
Since 1 January 2007 the Hilti Foundation is no longer financed solely by the Martin Hilti Family Trust, but together with Hilti AG.
