Apprentices Launch Sustainability Projects
As part of the myclimate vocational training project "Energy and Climate Workshop Liechtenstein," 31 apprentices have spent the past few months planning and partially implementing innovative sustainability initiatives within their companies. The apprentices had the opportunity to develop or optimize products and processes that promote CO2 reduction, enhance energy efficiency, or encourage employees to take everyday actions against climate change. As a project supporter, the Hilti Foundation was represented on the expert jury, which selected three winning teams from eleven submissions. The winners were presented and awarded at the Energy Forum of the Association for Waste Disposal Buchs at the LIHGA.
Promoting Environmental Awareness and Efficient Energy Use
The "Energy and Climate Workshop Liechtenstein" is a project under the educational initiative "Pioneers for a Sustainable Liechtenstein," supported by the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the School Office, the Office for Vocational Education, companies, and foundations in the country. The project is implemented by the Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate. The aim is to provide young people in Liechtenstein with a platform to proactively shape a sustainable society and their future. Students and apprentices in Liechtenstein can participate in myclimate projects "Energy and Climate Pioneers" and "Energy and Climate Workshop." Through this comprehensive approach, Liechtenstein is making a significant contribution to the national implementation of the United Nations' Agenda 2030 sustainability goals.
Three Projects from the "Energy and Climate Workshop Liechtenstein" Honored
Out of a total of eleven ideas submitted by apprentices from four Liechtenstein-based companies, the expert jury nominated three winning projects. First place went to Tina Hilti and Rafael Blumenthal, apprentices at Hilti. Their project, titled "Water Conservation for Sustainability," involved installing an additional button on the toilet flush, which will save over 300,000 liters of drinking water annually. Second and third place were awarded to teams of apprentices from LGT for a climate change awareness project and a plant sale fundraiser, the proceeds of which were used to plant trees to sequester CO2 in the atmosphere.
The Hilti Foundation congratulates the winners of the Energy and Climate Workshop on their sustainable project ideas and thanks the colleagues at myclimate.
Special congratulations go to the apprentices of the Hilti Group for securing first place with their project.
