Boosting Biodiversity Through Collaboration and Innovation

With the ‘supergut’ initiative, the Hilti Foundation has been promoting biodiversity in Liechtenstein since 2023. In addition to networking with the individual stakeholders, the focus is also on corporate volunteering opportunities and new approaches to raising awareness and imparting knowledge.

What do the greening of the HILTI campus with more native plants as part of a corporate volunteering initiative, an escape room in the centre of Schaan and a podcast series on the 'supergut' social media channels have in common? Quite simply, all of these projects are part of 'supergut' and aim to promote biodiversity in Liechtenstein in a sustainable way.

An important additional key is the networking of existing projects and committed private initiatives. The 'supergut.li' website serves as an important platform for this. On this website you will not only find the top-class experts and supporters of the supergut network, but also a wealth of valuable information and practical tips, as well as current events and offers on the topic.

‘Most people are not experts on biodiversity or could explain why biological diversity is so important. That's why our foundation launched ‘supergut.’ We want to give biodiversity a voice and we want people to get involved, become active and network.’ – Michelle Kranz, Managing Director Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein

This happens, for example, through a podcast series in collaboration with Peter Beck and Paul Herberstein aka ‘Peter und Paul wollen’s wissen’, in which a wide range of aspects of biological diversity are discussed with exciting guests. Hilti employees have also been able to get involved in corporate volunteering initiatives and make a positive contribution to more biodiversity around their workplace, while also picking up valuable tips for their private lives from the accompanying expert.

For the particularly adventurous, the Escape Room ‘Die Jagd nach Dr. Mo No’ offers the opportunity to contribute to rescuing biological diversity in a completely new, playfully exciting way until the end of February 2025. With the income from the Schaan Escape Room, the we plan to finance school projects as early as next year that will be dedicated to biodiversity.

The escape room features three rooms with various clues about biodiversity to complete the puzzle. Can you solve it?

With this initiative, we are promoting biological diversity in Liechtenstein and showing how unconventional approaches can help to reduce its loss. ‘Biodiversity takes care of us. Let's take care of it.’ Every contribution counts.
