Family and Career in Harmony

New Hilti daycare center opens in Buchs

Attractive jobs and the compatibility of career and family go hand in hand at Hilti. Following this corporate philosophy, another daycare center has now been opened in Buchs after Schaan: Since the beginning of January, a total of 29 children of Hilti team memers have now had a first-class childcare place in the completely redesigned premises of the Neuhof site, leaving nothing to be desired for young and old.

“Welcome to Kinderwelt Buchs” can be read in colorful letters on a screen in the foyer. The word “Children's World” is by no means an empty promise. The new KITA premises really do offer everything that makes young children's hearts beat faster: an open meeting zone flooded with light thanks to large windows, a separate exercise room for crawling and climbing, as well as plenty of nooks and crannies for exploring, playing or simply relaxing. A spacious staircase leads to a second floor, where there are also resting and sleeping areas. A separate kitchen and toddler-friendly sanitary facilities round off the interior.

A small village to feel at home in

Moreno Piccolotto, owner and managing director of the commissioned architectural firm “720° Architekten”, sums up the concept briefly and succinctly: “We have created a small village structure for the toddlers made of Swiss spruce wood to make them feel at home. With all the different areas and rooms that this requires.” The interior was designed with a great deal of architectural ingenuity and in compliance with all legal requirements. Only natural or harmless materials and protective coatings were used.

Meeting demand

A feel-good world for toddlers aged between four months and four years, which for Michèle Frey-Hilti, President of the Board of Trustees of the Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein, should also provide the necessary relaxation for the parents: “For working parents, it is simply extremely important that their children are in really good hands and well looked after during working hours. With the new KITA, we want to meet this need and the undiminished high demand. By providing financial support, we are helping to create this important service for families in the region.”

Short distances for parents

Together with the location in Schaan, the new KITA now offers childcare places for around 100 children of Hilti employees in the immediate vicinity of their workplace, often even their place of residence. For Miguel Jorge, his wife Olga and their nine-month-old son Elias, the new KITA is a real stroke of luck. The couple has been working for Hilti in Buchs for several years. “We work and live just a few hundred meters away from here,” says the IT expert enthusiastically. “We both come from Portugal and therefore have no relatives nearby who could help us look after Elias. Without the new KITA, it would be very difficult for us.”

Children in trusted hands

The operators are also enthusiastic about the commitment and the new building. “Ultimately, our future grows in places like this. And in order for the new Kinderwelt KITA to offer the right environment for this, we need companies like Hilti that not only support this vision, but also back it with genuine handshake quality from the very beginning,” emphasizes Edith Kohler, President of the non-profit Kinderwelt Buchs GmbH, which was newly founded in cooperation with Hilti.

Milestone in the neighborhood

Rolf Pfeiffer, who is the mayor of Buchs, shares this experience: “I have appreciated the constructive cooperation with Hilti for many years. A company that, with its commitment and vision, is much more than just a very important employer in the region - especially for and in Buchs.” He also sees the KITA as a first milestone for the entire neighborhood, which will be significantly developed as a residential and living space in the coming years.

Painting board as an opening gift

However, until spring arrives, the 29 toddlers in Buchs still have plenty of time not only to get used to the new premises, but also to explore and play with them extensively. A surprise gift from the Hilti Foundation, unveiled by Michèle Frey-Hilti on the occasion of the opening, will provide additional creative stimulation until then: a huge drawing board that is just waiting for the young artists' colorful chalk and paints. Only a single bright yellow sun was already shining brightly from the otherwise pure white paper - an inviting and promising symbol for the future of the new KITA in Buchs.
