International School Rheintal: Building Permit for New Construction Project Approved
The next major step towards the new school building for the International School Rheintal in Buchs has been taken with the submission of the plans.
The documents for the planning application for the new school building for the International School Rheintal were signed and submitted a month ago. The project is currently on display, and construction markers have already been set up on site. The signing of the building lease for 50 years on land belonging to the local community of Buchs has also already been finalized.
30 Million from the Hilty Foundation
This marks the completion of an important step in the 30 million Swiss francs construction project. The new building on the corner of Werdenbergstrasse and Hanflandstrasse, just a few metres from the current school, will be a three-storey building that will form an integral part of the Buchs education campus alongside the BZB and OST.
The project costs of around 30 million Swiss francs are being fully covered by the Hilti Foundation.
The focus of the project is on the use of sustainable materials, native landscaping, light-flooded classrooms and a modern, inclusive, and safe infrastructure. The newly built double gymnasium will be shared with the city of Buchs, allowing various sports clubs and groups to benefit from the new facility. A spacious green area surrounding the building, including outdoor learning zones, a playground and break areas, will be landscaped with native plants that will form a natural barrier to the road and at the same time contribute to the biodiversity of the surrounding area.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building is planned for autumn 2021, with the move from the existing building scheduled for summer 2023.
