Musical Highlights: The Iberacademy Orchestra in Austria
Regular collaboration with international musicians and orchestras is a key element of the Iberacademy curriculum. At the end of January, the Iberacademy Orchestra Medellín will embark on its next concert tour to Europe. The young musicians will perform at the first music festival of the year, the renowned "Mozartwoche Salzburg”, before traveling on to Feldkirch. There they will take part in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of “Musik in der Pforte” and open the 2023 concert year of the “Pforte Kammerochester Plus” together with students from the Stella Privathochschule für Musik.
"Iberacademy Medellín" @ Mozartwoche Salzburg – a fruitful and forward-looking partnership
The close partnership between the Iberacademy Medellín and the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg has been existing for four years. In January 2023, it will culminate with a symphony concert by the Iberacademy Orchestra as part of the Mozartwoche Festival. The European festival year begins with the Mozartwoche Salzburg under its artistic director Rolando Villazón. With him, it has been possible to once again add a new dimension to the area of musical youth work and also to further deepen the international partnerships of the Mozarteum Foundation.
The intensive partnership with the Iberacademy Medellín began in 2019, initially focusing on education through master classes with Mozartwoche soloists and teachers from the Mozarteum University. This was followed in year two by a focus on Mozart's works for wind instruments, which also featured Iberacademy musicians in small chamber concerts. Year three, which did not occur until 2022 due to the pandemic, saw a chamber orchestra of the Iberacademy performing in Salzburg. Now, in year four, the Iberacademy symphony orchestra under the direction of its chief conductor Alejandro Posada appears before the public for the first time with a symphony concert in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation - with a purely Mozart program.

Iberacademy and the Hilti Foundation
The young musicians studying at the Iberacademy understand excellence not only as a leitmotif in music, but it determines their entire work in and through music. A holistic education that goes far beyond the mastery of an instrument is creating a new generation of young musicians. They live all aspects of being a musician and thus find a broad perspective of professional opportunities – in and through music. This also includes the ability to contribute to social change in society with their musical talent. The Hilti Foundation has supported the Iberacademy since its inception in 2011 and, as a strategic partner, makes a significant contribution to the program's further development.
