Scholarships for Refugees from Ukraine - International School Rheintal

The Hilti Foundation (HFFL), in collaboration with the International School Rheintal (ISR), is launching a scholarship program for students displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.

The growing number of refugees from Ukraine in the Rhine Valley and Liechtenstein has created an urgent need for immediate local support. A scholarship program at ISR aims to provide these displaced students with the opportunity to continue their academic careers.

Applications are open now and can be submitted until April 8, 2022.

The scholarships are available for up to five students with protection status S, who are currently in 9th grade or higher and would normally pursue an academic education. The scholarship recipients will attend ISR, and their school and exam fees will be fully covered for the duration of their studies. They will complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, which is recognized by universities in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and around the world.

Michèle Frey-Hilti, Chairwoman of the Hilti Foundation Board of Trustees, believes that in exceptional circumstances, simple and effective help is essential.

As a locally active foundation, it is important for us to contribute to Liechtenstein and the surrounding region. Education is a key area of focus for our foundation. With the scholarship program, we can provide refugees with the much-needed stability they require.
— Michèle Frey-Hilti

The core value of "helping people to help themselves" is central to all projects supported by the Hilti Foundation, with the goal of fostering self-responsibility and independent action. This is also the case with the scholarship program at ISR.

Liz Free, CEO and Director of the International School, states:

"We are all shocked, saddened, and deeply concerned by the humanitarian crisis unfolding before our eyes. With an unprecedented number of young people being displaced, there is a risk of a lost generation. We want to do our part to ensure that students who would normally pursue university studies can continue to do so, securing a good future for themselves, their families, and their country. The Hilti Foundation’s scholarship program is one way we can make a real difference. We are very grateful for the support of the Hilti Foundation in funding this scholarship program, as we work together towards our mission of creating a better future by empowering others."
