New Children’s Care Center on Hilti Street

Within walking distance of the Hilti plant in Thüringen, a new children's center will be built by 2026. This new childcare center, together with the new middle school and a planned elementary school campus, will form an innovative educational district. The Hilti Foundation is supporting this new construction as part of its "Self-Determined Living" initiative.

Family-supplementary childcare is of central importance to both society and the economy. Suitable childcare options allow parents to fully concentrate on their tasks during working hours, knowing that their child is in the best hands. For companies that rely on qualified employees and want to retain them long-term, daycare centers are therefore an important prerequisite. Creating the necessary infrastructure is essential. Thomas Breuer, plant manager of Hilti Thüringen, sees the need within the company:

“We need qualified professionals to enable growth and innovation in the economy. As the largest employer in the community, the construction of the new children's center in close proximity to the plant is of immense importance, keeping Thüringen an attractive location.”

The children’s center will be build on the green field on the left side of Hilti street.

For the community, the economic benefit is a highly positive side effect, but the main focus should be on the families themselves. Since 2021, Thüringen has been part of the Vorarlberg-wide ‘familieplus’ network, which is increasingly committed to child, youth, and family friendliness. The new children's center makes an important contribution to achieving this goal.

“It is clear for our community: We want to create an attractive living environment with supportive infrastructure for families and make Thüringen even more future-proof for the next generations. This includes not only leisure activities but above all measures that make everyday life easier for families,” says Harald Witwer, mayor of Thüringen.

This stance has always been upheld by Hilti as an employer, promoting the compatibility of work and family for its employees. Additionally, the Hilti Foundation is committed to projects that have an impact in Liechtenstein and the surrounding region. Thus, the foundation has decided to contribute one million euros to the construction of the new daycare center, which is largely financed by the municipality of Thüringen and the state of Vorarlberg.

“Work and family should not and must not exclude each other. Our goal is to create sustainable conditions that benefit all parties involved: This requires appropriate childcare options and individual work models. By supporting the children's center in Thüringen, we can create added value for the community of Thüringen and also for our colleagues,” says Michelle Kranz, Managing Director of the Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein.

Hilti Thüringen also intends to be involved in the children's center both content-wise and financially. On the one hand, out of social responsibility, and on the other, in the interest of its employees, who increasingly rely on childcare options for infants and kindergarten-aged children to balance work and family life. The participation in the project aims at sustainable construction and providing a high-quality, comprehensive childcare offering for the children.
