"Waldpreis" Honors Exceptional Commitment to Local Forests

In 2023, the Hilti Foundation and the Association of Forest Owners "Wald St. Gallen & Liechtenstein" will present the "Forest Award" for the first time. This award recognizes individuals who have made an extraordinary commitment to the preservation and well-being of local forests.

Forests hold great significance worldwide. They are indispensable ecosystems for biodiversity and essential for humans, providing raw materials, regulating the climate, improving air quality, and preventing erosion. However, their preservation is often labor-intensive and requires significant effort.

Awarding the "Waldpreis"

The association "Wald St. Gallen & Liechtenstein" and the Hilti Foundation aim to honor projects that contribute to the welfare of local forests.

"As part of our 100th anniversary, we want to make a sustainable impact by presenting the 'Forest Award' for the first time next year," said Gerhard Konrad, board member of Wald St. Gallen & Liechtenstein. "We are pleased to have found a partner in the Hilti Foundation that shares our commitment to the 'forest ecosystem.'"

The "Waldpreis" will recognize efforts that promote biodiversity or support projects ensuring that forests continue to play a valuable role in climate regulation in the future.

"We are looking for forest heroes—people who are exceptionally dedicated to our forests," said Michelle Kranz, Managing Director of the Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein.

These individuals will be recognized for their exemplary role, with the hope that their efforts will inspire many others to follow suit.
