Ukrainian Scholars Celebrate Graduation at ISR
Just over two years ago, Viktoriia was facing a completely new start. She had fled her home country, Ukraine, due to the war. With the scholarship program at the International School Rheintal (ISR) in Buchs, we were able to support academically ambitious students like her in creating a foundation for their future in the new environment. The first of them recently celebrated their graduation.
The scholarship program: hope in challenging times
In March 2022, a quick reaction to the escalating situation in Ukraine was needed and we launched a scholarship program for Ukrainian refugees together with the International School Rheintal (ISR). Within a few weeks, we evaluated the applications and finally selected seven talented young people who then had their first day of school at ISR in May 2022.
Now, two years later, the first five scholars have reached an important milestone with the completion of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
The graduates of the Class of 2024 were given a ceremonial farewell by ISR during the graduation ceremony. The doors are now open for them to continue their education around the world, and the five scholars have quite different visions of where they want to go: from studying biomedicine to opening their own café.
These young graduates have done so much more than just develop their academic skills. They have also made valuable friendships and are shining examples of successful integration. We are proud to have accompanied them on this journey and wish them all the best for the future.
