Update: 7 Students selected for Scholarships at ISR

On April 27, the selection committee for the Hilti Foundation scholarship program convened to evaluate the approximately 40 submitted applications. The team ultimately selected seven Ukrainian students who will begin their new school life at the International School Rheintal (ISR) this Monday.

Liz Free, the Director of the International School Rheintal, acknowledged the difficulty of the decision-making process.

We are confident, however, that the selected students will greatly benefit from the scholarship. In turn, they will also enrich our school and community.

The scholarship recipients come from various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. Two of them will join the 9th grade, while five will enter the 10th grade. These students were chosen based on their academic abilities, language proficiency, and how well they fit into the ISR community. Each applicant was individually assessed through personal interviews with ISR faculty. The selection committee included representatives from parents, the Hilti Foundation, the ISR board, the ISR leadership team, and school management and administration.

About the Program

In response to the growing number of refugees from Ukraine in the Rhine Valley and Liechtenstein, the International School Rheintal, in collaboration with the Hilti Foundation, launched a scholarship program in March 2022.

“The scholarship program aims to give young refugees the opportunity to continue their academic careers”

explains Michelle Kranz, Managing Director of the Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein, summarizing the initiative’s intention.

To provide rapid on-site assistance, the team worked on a tight schedule: The application period for the scholarship program ran from March 18 to April 8, 2022, followed by a roughly two-week evaluation phase. During this time, applicants also had the opportunity to visit the school in person.
